Many alternate sugar substitutes like Aspartame, Sucralose, Neotame to name a few have come under the scanner for being unsafe to use, still though most of them are FDA approved. Hence, it is not optional that you use artificial sweeteners to replace sugar in your diet. But, that doesn’t mean you have to get rid of sugar from your diet completely. While cooking or baking desserts, replace sugar with naturally sweet fruits like apples, peaches or your favorite fruit. Apart from getting a dose of your daily fruit eating, you will also feel far more satiated from the fruit sugar than you would feel with an artificial sweetener.
You can also use natural sweeteners like honey, agave nectar, sugar alcohols or jaggery while taking your morning cup of tea or coffee. Though they are as calorie-dense as sugar, they can still provide many other nutritional benefits and can be safe when consumed in moderation for a diabetic.
